The story behind
Old Pear Tree Barn
Welcome to the hamlet of Trebisken in the Parish of Cubert and to Old Pear Tree Barn. We are so pleased that you have chosen to stay here in our eco-barn-conversion.
For most of its life, the barn was an integral part of a working farm, complete with a kitchen-garden growing fruit and vegetables to supply the family and their workers, who carefully tended the surrounding fields and their cattle, sheep and pigs. With the sound of chickens fussing and scratching about the yard and laying their eggs, the old place was entirely self sufficient, complete with an old generator and its own water well. In fact, mains water and electricity, only became available in the early seventies!!
Lovingly transformed by the previous owners from a tumbled down piggery and derelict barn into the charming and welcoming two bedroomed dwelling it is today.
Much of the barns’ character and many of the original features have been carefully retained, and with the help of some modern wizardry in the form of a ground source heat pump, underfloor heating was installed.
The previously overgrown garden was tamed and nurtured into the private, relaxed space with far reaching views to the dunes of Perransands.
An old and long since departed neighbour, who was born in the house and spent all his life working the land, relayed the story of the solitary old pear tree in the garden, planted many decades ago by his mother, which now gives the reborn barn its name.
We are proud to be the new custodians of this lovely place, and will do our best to maintain the very high standards of the previous owners.

The glass fronted balcony provides the perfect vantage point to enjoy the extensive views and a “sundowner” before the evenings draw in and you choose your favourite movie and relax with a refreshing glass of wine on one of the comfy sofas in the stylish first floor lounge.
THE BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
The master bedroom has a king size bed with fine linens, premium quality duvet and pillows and mattress and ensuite bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The french doors lead out on to the patio and gardens beyond.
The second bedroom has twin beds also with quality mattresses and fine linens, premium duvets and pillows and benefits from an adjacent shower room.
THE KITCHEN
You will be welcomed with a complimentary hamper with a selection of Cornish goodies as well as Fresh free range eggs, dry-cured bacon, local rustic bread and scones and that all important Cornish Clotted Cream and local jam!!
Our open-plan kitchen with it’s high beamed ceiling affords plenty of space with generous granite work surfaces and is fully equipped with Bosch appliances: ceramic hob, eye-level fan oven, dish-water, washing machine, fridge, separate freezer, microwave, toaster & Nespresso coffee machine.
With lots of worktop space and plenty of storage cupboards for all you groceries, you will also find an array of kitchen essentials too: condiments, herbs and spices, some coffee pods, tea & sugar, all you need to get you going, in your holiday home-from-home.
The kitchen links with the dining area to create a convivial living space, which overlooks the pretty courtyard and patio with the lawned gardens and fields beyond.
This space is just perfect for enjoying a Cornish cream tea with the family or a home-cooked Cornish roast made with top quality local ingredients from one of the farm shops or the regular farmers’ markets.
THE GARDEN
With far-reaching rural views across the valley and fields to the distant grassy dunes and located within a large private garden, Old Pear Tree barn provides high quality self catering accommodation. Extensive patios and lawns beckon for outdoor living. Have breakfast, lunch and high-tea, all al fresco!! Fire up the BBQ for supper and savour the flavours and aromas of outdoor cooking. Enjoy your favourite holiday read undisturbed from the comfort of your recliner on one of the patios or grab a picnic rug and take a relaxing snooze on the lawn under the pear tree.
